In the past week, The Last Olympian received a couple of awards for 2009:

- The Christian Science Monitor named The Last Olympian one of the best books of 2009
- The New York Times named The Last Olympian a Notable Children's Book for 2009

Rick Riordan announced that his next series will be called The Kane Chronicles. According to Riordan's blog, the series will follow "brother and sister Carter and Sadie Kane, who accidentally help unleash the Egyptian gods into the modern world, and then discover they are the only ones who can set things right."

The world's first "Lightning Billboard" debuted on Oct 28 to promote the Lightning Thief movie, according to a Reuters article. The billboard, located at 8755 Sunset Boulevard, was powered by 1.2 million volts of electricity.

Rick Riordan will appear on a live "Advanced Agent Training" webcast with other 39 Clues authors on November 2 at 1:30 pm EST. Whoopi Goldberg will host the webcast, which you can view here.

A second trailer for the Lightning Thief movie was just released. It shows many more scenes than the first trailer but also includes Percy riding the elevator up the Empire State Building.
