The cover for Red Pyramid was revealed on Rick Riordan's blog earlier this week and shown below. Red Pyramid is the first book of the Kane Chronicles, the new series based on Egyptian mythology that Riordan is working on. Red Pyramid will be released on May 4.

On his blog today, Rick Riordan announced a new book, Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Ultimate Guide. According to Riordan, the book is a compendium of Percy Jackson's world, full of facts, trivia, and illustrations.

In the past week, The Last Olympian received a couple of awards for 2009:

- The Christian Science Monitor named The Last Olympian one of the best books of 2009
- The New York Times named The Last Olympian a Notable Children's Book for 2009

Rick Riordan announced that his next series will be called The Kane Chronicles. According to Riordan's blog, the series will follow "brother and sister Carter and Sadie Kane, who accidentally help unleash the Egyptian gods into the modern world, and then discover they are the only ones who can set things right."

The first book in the series, The Red Pyramid, will be released on May 4, 2010. Riordan has planned three books in the series so far, but that number may change in the fut… Continue
