Rick Riordan announced that his next series will be called The Kane Chronicles. According to Riordan's blog, the series will follow "brother and sister Carter and Sadie Kane, who accidentally help unleash the Egyptian gods into the modern world, and then discover they are the only ones who can set things right."

The world's first "Lightning Billboard" debuted on Oct 28 to promote the Lightning Thief movie, according to a Reuters article. The billboard, located at 8755 Sunset Boulevard, was powered by 1.2 million volts of electricity. Continue

According to Rick Riordan's blog, the author has recently completed the manuscript for a new book based on Egyptian mythology. The book is scheduled to hit bookstores in May 2010. It is not related to Percy Jackson, but Riordan also mentioned that he's about to start on a new book in the Camp Half-Blood series! Continue

In an interview with IESB, Lightning Thief movie director Chris Columbus said he's "changing the books. I wouldn't say significantly, but we're able to change them a little bit." I don't know what those changes are, but I hope the movie will still be true to the story and themes in the Percy Jackson books. One of the reasons that Columbus gave for the changes is to lessen any resemblance to Harry Potter. Columbus was involved in the making of three of the Harry Potter movies. Continue
