Camp Half-Blood

A Fan Site Dedicated to Percy Jackson & The Olympians

While many of the other demigods prepared for war at Camp Half-Blood, Percy spent the summer "on call" among his mortal friends and family. One day, his stepfather Paul let Percy practice driving his car at the beach with Rachel. Rachel wanted Percy to join her on a family trip that her dad planned in order to get her to attend Clarion Academy in the fall. Rachel didn't want to, and she wasn't fond of her father either. She then confessed her feelings for Percy, but before the two could kiss, Blackjack arrived with another camper, Charles Beckendorf, to pick up Percy for a mission. Percy bid farewell to Rachel, knowing that he wouldn't return to the normal world for the rest of the summer.

Percy, Charles, and Blackjack flew to the cruise ship Princess Andromeda, headquarters for Kronos's army, in order to destroy it. The two boys sneaked on board with explosive Greek fire, but Kronos's monsters approached before they were able to complete their mission. Percy left Charles in order to create a distraction. After defeating several monsters, he met Kronos, who had taken over the body of another former camper, Luke Castellan. Kronos told Percy that he knew they were coming to blow up the ship and revealed that he had captured Charles. However, Charles was able to set up the explosives, and he set them off, sacrificing himself so that Percy could escape into the sea.

Percy woke up in his father Poseidon's palace, where his cyclops half-brother Tyson informed him that the kingdom had been fighting a long battle against the titan Oceanus. Things seemed to be going badly, but rather than enlist Percy's help, Poseidon sent him back to Camp Half-Blood. Reluctantly, Percy left his father.

Upon his return to Camp Half-Blood, the other campers were excited to see Percy, until they realized that Charles Beckendorf didn't return with him. This devastated Charles's girlfriend, Silena Beauregard. Poseidon had told Percy that it was time for him to hear his entire prophecy, and Chiron promptly sent Percy to the Oracle to fetch it.

The Great Prophecy read:
A half-blood of the eldest gods
shall reach sixteen against all odds
And see the world in endless sleep,
The hero's soul, cursed blade shall reap.
A single choice shall end his days.
Olympus to preserve or raze.

Thus Percy realized that according the prophecy, he would meet his death. To make matters worse, the Ares and Apollo cabins were in the midst of a dispute over a chariot, and Clarisse, leader of children of Ares, withdrew their support in the fight against Kronos.

The campers received news that the titan Typhon had emerged from an eruption of Mount St. Helens and was headed to New York. Because of the Mist, mortals saw Typhon as a devastating storm system instead of a monster. The gods left Mount Olympus to fight the titan, leaving their home virtually defenseless. While most of the campers believed Typhon was Kronos's main means of attacking the gods, Percy warned that the titan could be just a diversion.

That night, Percy dreamed of Rachel at her home with two paintings she drew, one of Luke as a nine-year-old boy, and the other of a giant hand reaching from the clouds for Mount Olympus atop the Empire State Building.

After spending the day with Annabeth and upsetting her by not understanding her concern for him, Percy sought out Mrs. O'Leary. He followed the hellhound into the woods, where Nico di Angelo, Juniper, and Leneus -- a cloven elder -- were having a discussion. Juniper wanted Leneus to help search for her boyfriend Grover, but the elder refused to acknowledge Grover after he informed the satyrs that Pan had died the previous summer.

When Leneus and Juniper left, Nico asked Percy if he would agree to the plan Nico proposed when they met previously. Reluctantly, Percy agreed, believing it to be the only way to defeat Kronos. Nico and Percy, riding Mrs. O'Leary, then used shadow travel to visit Luke's mother in Connecticut. They found Ms. Castellan an unbalanced old woman who thought Percy was Luke. Before leaving, however, she revealed that Luke asked for and received her blessing before Kronos took over his body.

Percy and Nico then met Hestia, the goddess of the hearth. She told them that she was the only god still looking after Mount Olympus and that Percy should remember her when he faced his final decision.

Hestia transported Percy, Nico, and Mrs. O'Leary back to New York to Percy's home. Seeing Mrs. O'Leary, Paul finally believed that Percy was a demigod. Percy told his mom about Nico's plan and asked for her blessing. She gave it, and the two bid farewell to each other.

Percy, Nico, and Mrs. O'Leary then went to Central Park, the location of the nearest entrance to the Underworld. However, the entrance would open only if they played music. Sensing Grover through his empathy link, Percy called out to the satyr. Grover fell out of a tree. He told Percy how Morpheus had put him to sleep and that Morpheus spoke of bigger plans. Percy asked Grover to play music to open the entrance to the Underworld and to recruit as many nature spirits as he could to fight against Kronos.

When they reached the Underworld, the Furies captured Percy and brought him to Hades. Nico had deceived Percy by bringing him to Hades in exchange for information about Nico's past. Hades told him that he kept Nico and Bianca in the Lotus Casino to keep them safe, but he wouldn't give his son more information about his mother. Feeling betrayed by his father, Nico rescued Percy from Hades's prison and took him to bathe in the Styx. Like Achilles and Luke before him, Percy became invincible from bathing in the Styx, except for a vulnerable spot in the small of his back. With his newfound powers, Percy defeated Hades's forces and returned to New York.

He summoned the campers to the Empire State Building, site of Mount Olympus. There, Hestia showed Percy a vision of young Luke and Thalia finding Annabeth and taking her in to join them. Then Hermes arrived with news that the gods would continue to fight Typhon instead of returning to Mount Olympus because they considered Typhon the biggest threat. However, Athena gave Annabeth a message through Hermes to use plan twenty-three.

Unsuccessful in persuading the gods to defend Mount Olympus, the demigods decided to defend Manhattan themselves, with the help of Thalia and the Hunters. They spread out to cover the various routes to Manhattan. Percy took care of Kronos's minions on the water by paying the river gods to dispose of them. Along the way, Annabeth activated plan twenty-three from Daedalus's laptop. Daedalus had built automatons as statues all over Manhattan, and Annabeth now commanded them to defend the city.

A large portion of Kronos's army met resistance from the demigods at Williamsburg Bridge. Percy and Annabeth joined the battle to help their friends. Percy was able to defeat most of the enemies with his powers. During the battle, a traitorous half-blood, Ethan, would have stabbed Percy in his weak spot, but Annabeth intercepted the blow. Percy finally faced off against Kronos, and the two destroyed the bridge, stopping Kronos's army from crossing into the city.
The campers regrouped at the Plaza Hotel. Annabeth was hurt but recovering. She told Percy that she could have stopped Luke before Kronos took over his body, but she didn't.

Exhausted, Percy fell asleep. He dreamed of Nico summoning the spirit of his mother, Maria. Instead, Nico saw the past, before he and Bianca went to the Lotus Casino. Hades wanted the entire family to move to the Underworld so they could be protected from Zeus because of the Great Prophecy. However, Zeus killed Nico's mother in an attempt to kill the children instead. Overcome with grief over Maria's death, Hades cursed the Oracle so that no other mortal could host her spirit as long as the Great Prophecy was in effect.

Percy also dreamed about Rachel. Rachel had a vision of something bad happening to Percy and pleaded with her father to return to New York. He finally agreed to it when Rachel promised to attend Clarion Academy.

After Percy woke up, he, Grover, and Thalia met a truce party from Kronos, led by the titan Prometheus. Prometheus offered safety for the demigods and humans if they let the Titans take over Mount Olympus unchallenged. Percy turned down the offer, but Prometheus gave him Pandora's box as a gift. If he wanted to surrender, all he needed to do was open Pandora's box and let out the spirit remaining in it, Hope.

Percy returned to the Plaza Hotel and fell asleep again. This time, he dreamed about Kronos's camp. Kronos summoned Ethan and asked why Annabeth would try to save Percy if he was invincible. Ethan didn't know, and when Kronos pressed him to reveal which part of Percy's body he was aiming for, Ethan couldn't remember. Percy also had a vision of Mary Castellan when Luke was a baby. He discovered why she was mad. She had tried to become a new host for the Oracle, unaware of the curse that Hades put on the Oracle.

That night, the campers readied themselves for another wave of attacks from Kronos's army. Their first battle took place in Central Park against forces led by Hyperion. Percy kept the titan at bay with his command over water, and the nature spirits finally subdued him by turning him into a maple tree. Kronos launched his next attack, the Clazmonian Sow, a giant flying pig. Percy defeated it by summoning some of Daedalus's automatons to kill the pig.

Despite defeating the Sow, the combined forces of the campers, Hunters, and nature spirits were pushed back to the Empire State Building by Kronos's army. Suddenly, Chiron arrived with a large group of centaurs, forcing the enemy to retreat.

Unexpectedly, a helicopter appeared overhead. Percy saw that it was Rachel, but the helicopter pilot was asleep. He and Annabeth flew up to the helicopter. Annabeth entered and landed it safely. Rachel told Percy about her visions, including one that told her Percy wasn't the hero.

Later, Kronos launched another attack by a drakon. Percy and Annabeth tried to slow it down, but its armor prevented any weapons from landing a fatal blow. During the attack, the children of Ares joined the fight, led by Clarisse. She charged the drakon, but the monster spew poison on her. When her armored was removed, she was revealed to be Silena instead. She pretended to be Clarisse in order to urge the Ares campers into battle. The real Clarisse arrived soon afterwards. Angered at seeing what it had done to Silena, Clarisse charged the drakon and killed it with a blow to its eye. As Silena lay dying, she confessed that she was the spy, but she was tricked by Luke and felt guilty for betraying her friends after Charles died.

The demigod army regrouped at the Empire State Building to make a final stand. Percy, Annabeth, and Grover took the elevator to Mount Olympus. Rachel was already there with Hestia. Rachel told Percy that their fates weren't meant to be together, and that she was destined for something else. Percy gave Hestia Pandora's box as a gift.

Kronos arrived at the Empire State Building with his army. Fortunately, at that time, Nico also appeared with Hades and his forces. They summoned the dead to aid in fighting against Kronos's army, while Kronos and Ethan entered the Empire State Building and went up to Mount Olympus.

Percy, Annabeth, Grover, and Thalia pursued Kronos to Mount Olympus. Percy fought Kronos while Annabeth dueled with Ethan. The demigods were able to convince Ethan that following Kronos was the wrong thing to do, and Ethan tried to stab Kronos, but Kronos easily killed him.

In arrogance, Kronos showed Percy the gods' hopeless battle against Typhon. However, as they watched, Poseidon joined the fight, and with help from the Cyclops, the gods subdued Typhon and sent him back to Tartarus.

The fight continued between Kronos and Percy and Annabeth. Slowly, Luke asserted control over his body. Annabeth realized that Luke was the hero of the prophecy, and Percy later realized the same. He handed Luke Annabeth's knife, and Luke stabbed himself in his only vulnerable spot, killing his own body as well as Kronos.

After the battle ended, the gods returned to Olympus. In a show of gratitude, they asked Annabeth to be the architect of Mount Olympus's reconstruction and named Grover a new member of the Council of Cloven Elders. Zeus granted Percy one wish, assuming he would choose to become a god, but Percy requested instead that the gods claim all of their demigod children and offer to bring them to Camp Half-Blood. Additionally, as a favor to Ethan, he asked that all of the gods be recognized, not just the major gods. The gods assented to Percy's wish.

As the trio left Mount Olympus, they received word that Rachel rode Blackjack to Camp Half-Blood. Percy and his friends found her in front of the Oracle enveloped in mist. Fearing that she would fall to the same fate as Luke's mother, Percy tried to stop her, but Chiron held him back. The spirit of the Oracle left its former mummified body and entered Rachel. She survived to become the new Oracle and gave the next Great Prophecy.

The camp celebrated their victory over the Titans and mourned those who gave their lives for the cause. After dinner, Percy gathered up the courage to tell Annabeth how he felt about her, but he couldn't quite get the words out. Fortunately, Annabeth knew what he meant and kissed him. The other campers then barged in upon them, carried them on their shoulders and threw them into the river. Instead of coming up to the surface, Percy and Annabeth continued to kiss inside an underwater bubble.
